Completing Your Submission Forms

Please follow the instructions carefully when submitting your website for inclusion in our directory.

Please ensure you input all your details correctly. Once you have submitted your forms you will be able to update your contact details via your account. However, your directory listing cannot be changed once submitted and checked by our editor, unless it is factually incorrect.

Listing Title
The title of your listing must start with your company name, so that you appear in your correct alphabetical position. You can also include a very short description of your business (e.g. Travel Websites Directory - travel directory and portal) if you have enough characters left. You have 50 characters for your listing title.

Description
Write a description of your company/website, fully using the number of characters available to you (this varies by package). Remember that the description is the first impression our users will get of your company. Write your description so that it appears to have been written by a 3rd party reviewing your website (if in doubt read any of the listings in the directory). You should also include your company name at the start of your description, so that your listing is picked up by our internal search tool, if users search for you.

Website URL
This should be correctly formatted (e.g. http://www.travelwebsitesdirectory.co.uk) and should normally be the home page of your website, though you can submit listings with deep-links to other sections of your website if one website has numerous product areas. If you operate an affiliate scheme, we require that the link from your listing to your website operates on an affiliate basis. Please supply your normal URL but email us to let us know that you offer and affiliate scheme and where (affiliate network or in-house) we can get an affiliate link from.

Logo (Silver package and above)
This must be a maximum of 100 pixels by 100 pixels and no more than 25k.

Profile Page (Platinum packages)
You can list your company contact details (address, phone number, email). For your phone number and email, we suggest you use your general enquiries, reservations or sales departments.

For your company description, you have much more space available to sell your company than on our other packages. We suggest you use the available space as an advertorial, outlining the products and services you offer, which destinations you go to, any brochures available to your potential customers and any other information you feel is relevant (such as whether you are ABTA/ATOL bonded). Again, please write your descripton as though it were written by a 3rd party. Please remember that profile pages have been designed so that our users can quickly see whether you offer what they are looking for before clicking through to relevant websites, so try and give them the relevant information to make this decision.

Category and sub-category
Having filled out the relevant information about your company in the fields detailed above, it is then important to ensure that you appear in the appropriate categories and sub-categories.

Our navigation system has been designed to give our users different ways to find the websites they are looking for. They may know which destination they want to go to, or what type of holiday they want to go on and our user friendly navigation system helps them to find relevant websites either way.

Unfortunately, no manageable and usable directory navigation structure can cover all possible travel search permutations, but we have covered as many of the core categories and sub-categories as we can, without making the directory user-unfriendly.

Your listing can appear in as many categories and sub-categories as are relevant and by default will also appear in the 'All Travel Websites (A to Z)' category. Generally, if your website is relevant to a particular category, you will also find one or more of its sub-categories are applicable too.

It is important that you take the time to browse the categories and sub-categories and select those that are relevant.

Our editorial team will check and approve your submission but please save us time by only selecting the relevant categories and sub-categories.

Please note the following guidelines on what can be submitted for inclusion in a particular category/sub-category;
  • Flights - if your primary business is the operation of or sale of flights then you can submit your website for inclusion in the flights category and any relevant sub-categories. Large online travel agents can also appear in the 'flight search and booking websites' sub-category as long as there is an obvious flight search facility from your home page.
  • Overseas Hotels/Accommodation - if you sell overseas accommodation on an accommodation only basis, then you can submit your website for inclusion in this category and any relevant sub-categories. Although we have included a number of different accommodation type sub-categories, websites included in them are generally those which sell that particular type of accommodation and not individual properties themselves.
  • Tour Operators - our tour operator section has been broken down into 'Europe', 'Rest of World' and 'Product'. If you operate to a particular destination then you can submit your website for inclusion in the sub-category concerned, whether you only operate to that destination or operate to multiple destinations. Generally, 'product' type holidays will be offered as an inclusive package by a tour operator, hence the reason we have included specific holiday types under a tour operator section.
  • UK/Ireland Accommodation - if you sell UK/Ireland accommodation on an accommodation only basis, then you can submit your website for inclusion in this category and any relevant sub-categories. Although we have included a number of different accommodation type sub-categories, websites included in them are generally those which sell that particular type of accommodation and not individual properties themselves.
  • UK/Ireland Transport - if you operate or sell UK/Ireland transport, then you can submit your website for inclusion in this category and relevant sub-categories.
  • Ferries & Cross Channel Transport - this category includes ferry lines operating from/to the UK, other cross channel transport methods and travel agents who specialise in the sale of such methods of transport.
  • Destinations - if you offer holidays to, or information about, a destination, then you can submit your website for inclusion in the destination sub-category concerned. This generally includes tour operators operating to a particular destination (whether they are a destination specialist or offer multiple destinations), destination specific websites, the larger online travel agents (who offer travel to and/or accommodation at a destination) and hotel search and booking websites. We find that users looking for flights will use the flights category so we do not allow flight websites/airlines to appear in the destination category and we also do not allow smaller travel agents to feature in the destination category.
  • Travel Agents - although there has been a blurring of the edges between tour operators and travel agents in recent years, if your primary business is the selling of holidays offered by other travel companies, then we would classify you as a travel agent.
  • Cruise Holidays - cruise lines may submit themselves for inclusion in the cruise line, cruise destination and cruise product type sub-categories. Our definition of a cruise travel agent is a travel agent that only sells cruising or sells other products too, but has a dedicated or specialist cruise focus within their agency.
  • Ski Holidays - ski tour operators can submit for inclusion in the relevant categories and sub-categories. Our definition of a ski travel agent is a travel agent that only sells ski holidays or sells other products too, but has a dedicated or specialist ski focus within their agency.
  • Before You Go/Useful Information Websites & Miscelleanous - you can submit your website for inclusion in any relevant categories and sub-categories.
